Lake House meets on Wednesday nights during the school year and begins with Mass at 6:15 PM. In addition to the Director of Youth Ministry, Adult Core Leaders as well as Peer Leaders “Lifeguards” guide high school students through the Catechism of the Catholic Church in an engaging program. High School students are given opportunities to grow closer to Christ through Masses, large and small group talks, guest speakers, games, outdoor adventures, retreats and mission trips. Parents participate by working in teams to provide Wednesday night Lake House dinners 2 times per semester. The Lake House program is a new dynamic high school ministry that is designed to engage teens in a relaxed atmosphere. Utilizing the Youth Room at Our Lady of the Lake, Lake House meets on Wednesday nights during the school year for worship, fellowship, and fun. Evenings always begin with a Youth Mass in the Main Sanctuary. Following Mass, dinner is provided by parent teams. Next, the program for the evening rotates between Lake House nights, Throwback nights, Game nights and activities.
Lake House nights feature a special musical guest to perform on the Lake House stage. Singer-songwriters and local musicians perform praise and worship songs for the teens. After, a short inspirational talk is given, and time for questions.
Throwback nights utilize the LifeTeen format and materials. Nights begin with a welcome game, then move to a lesson for the evening. The night concludes with small group interaction and discussion.
Game nights are designed to be nothing but fun. With the high demands and stress our teens experience daily, Game nights are planned to give a needed break and foster fellowship and fun. Games can be large and organized such as kickball or dodgeball, or smaller and individual such as trivia and Sardines which is a form of hide-and-go-seek.
