FACT: Ten minutes of controlled breathing can lower blood pressure, promote feelings of calm & relaxation, and help us de-stress.
Quick Tips to incorporate mindfulness and meditation into your daily routine:
1. Download a meditation app to practice guided mindfulness techniques— we suggest ‘Headspace’, which prompts you to schedule time for meditation on your daily calendar.
2. Look in the mirror and reframe your stress with verbal positive affirmations—“I’ve got this!”, “I’m up for it.”, I can manage this.”
3. Move from ‘freak out’ to “flow”. When we meditate, we train to self-regulate. We build that skill over time, so when the heat is turned up, our calm, rational brain can take charge.
